I work in retail. One day, at work, I was stocking the front checkout line with cheap items for people to splurge on. After I was done, I started walking away, when I heard Saria's Song. It wasn't loud by any means, but I could hear it over the crappy seasonal music. I had to know where it was coming from, so I followed it. The store I work at was pretty big, about the size of a small warehouse, so I spent some time following it. Was it in the software section? Was it in the components section? Was it in audio-visual? I finally walked into the computer section, and found the computer that was playing it, and the person who played it, just as the song ended. For two short minutes, I got to live The Lost Woods.-Cuyler

When I was little I always called people by their Pokemon counterparts. So whenever my smoker grandma came through the door I said, "A wild Weezing has appeared!"-John

I'm graduating from college soon, and the only thing I'm going to miss is not being able to get streetpasses on my 3DS as easily anymore. -Zach

My kid doesn't respond to "upsey daisy" or anything like that when I toss him in the air. He only laughs if I say "Fus-Ro-Dah!" as I throw him.-Garrett

So, when I was a sophomore in high school the all-school musical was "Anything Goes." No one knew the try-out song (being teenagers that didn't watch old movies) which was the main song from the play. I knew the whole thing by heart because of how many times I heard it on Galaxy News Radio from Fallout 3.-Kori

My ringtone for SMS is the sound effect from Metal Gear Solid that plays when you're spotted. The other day I had a math test in class, and I was trying to cheat, when suddenly someone sent me a message. When I heard the "ZWIING!", I was sure I was a dead man. I changed my ringtone right after.-Lore

A few years ago I was playing Arkham Asylum. Astounded by the physical feats that Batman performed, as well as how ripped he was, I vowed to get in the best shape I could so that I could be more like Batman (of course, I knew that getting as jacked as Batman was impossible, he was a fictional character in a video game, but I could at least try). I'm not going to lie to you, I was a pretty chubby guy at the time, but what started as huffing and puffing through a few push-ups and sit-ups during the loading screens turned into a full workout routine that I would force myself to do before playing video games. By the time Arkham City came out, I could bench press over two hundred pounds and was well on my way to having a six-pack, and could proudly play the videogame without becoming insecure. Hopefully by the time the next game comes out, I'll be a billionaire who hangs out in a cave and fights crime.-Jake

My baby is 5 months old, recently we got a TV in our bedroom. We don't have a CD player or anything to play lullabies So we usually put on baby Mozart with a blanket over the TV. One night we put the baby down to bed and we were tired beyond belief. We set the VHS on automatic repeat, not making sure we had the right tape. We woke up the next morning to the sounds of a light saber battle, and the music of John Williams. I couldn't believe my ears, I removed the blanket. And sure enough we had let the baby fall asleep to Star Wars. She smiles whenever she hears the main theme now.-Madison

I'm a huge Zelda fan, so my phone's alert sounds are always something Zelda related. For forever, my text message ringtone was the little fanfare that plays in every Zelda game when Link receives an item and proudly holds it above his head. So, this one time in college, I was fooling around with a guy and during, I received a text message and my phone was on loud. Right as his hand moved to my butt – "BA NA NA NAAAAAAAAAA!!" While hilarious, that sorta killed the mood, so we spent the rest of the night talking about Zelda.-Diana

When I was around 2-3 years old, my mom became obsessed with playing Super Mario Bros. 3 and I would sit with her and watch her for hours. Apparently one day, while my mom's best friend was babysitting me, I was watching her son play Super Mario Bros 3. After a while, my babysitter heard me yell, "Oh look! It's the f*cking ship!" When she told my mom what had happened my mom was shocked – apparently my mother got so involved in that game she forgot to watch her mouth around her young daughter. She never played that game again – instead, we moved onto Super Mario World.-Jen

I was messaging a girl when she said she needed help getting through the Lost Woods in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I told her the right directions, from memory. I never even had to memorize that path, because I just listened to the music.-Ben

I was visiting a school with a friend earlier this month – we were just standing around when a kid walked up to me and pointed to my GameBoy shirt and said "You could've bought a real DS with the same money you used to buy that DS Shirt". I was offended on a couple levels, but it didn't hit me until much later that he thought a t-shirt cost the same amount as a portable system. That probably should have been the first reaction.-Connor

When Halo 4 came out, I was the only one at the midnight release not getting it. I got a copy of Dragon Ball Z Budokai HD instead.-Christian

I was so pumped to hear everyone throwing the word BAMF around recently. I thought it was cool that a comic book reference had become modern slang. It wasn't until much later that I found out that the current use of BAMF was not a reference to the sound Nightcrawler made when teleporting.-Zack

I recently went to see a movie with my girlfriend. Since it was the Friday after Halloween, all the theater employees were dressed up. We go to get our popcorn and the cashier has an awesome Link costume, complete with a sword, shield and Navi. I compliment him on his costume and he lets out a big relieved sigh and says "Thanks man, you're the first person to get it. Everyone keeps calling me Peter Pan."-Fraser

I was dating a girl not long ago, and we were out in a park. She mentioned that she didn't know how to waltz, so I started to show her the basic step. It was quiet, so I tried to think of a tune to go along with the dance. Before I knew it, I started singing "Song of Storms" from Ocarina of Time. We continued dancing through the entire song. I think I was secretly hoping it would start raining.-Kyle

A friend of mine went on a mission trip the Philippines earlier this year. When he went to the Mall of Asia, he got bored waiting in line at the Starbucks. What he did then was randomly yell the first line of 'Still Alive' from Portal ("This was a triumph…"). Pretty soon, the whole line was singing along, except for a few very confused older people.-Ian

I was one of 2 people waiting in line for the midnight release of Assassin's Creed 3. Probably would have been more except I was in New York during Hurricane Sandy. Still worth it though.-Daniel

I gave a true/false pop quiz to my class on the Assassin's Creed 3 release day. Every answer was false, and I let them work on whatever they wanted after the quiz. Nothing is true. Everything is permitted.-Mr. R

When I was about 13, my grandma got me a Sega Dreamcast for my birthday. The problem was the store she bought the console didn't have the memory card/VMU for sale, and since I live in a small town in Brazil, it was the only one store that sold the Dreamcast. I was crazy about finishing Sonic Adventure (which came along with the Dreamcast), but I didn't have the VMU, so the furthest I went was the Knuckles stages.

I waited for a holiday and played it nonstop for more than 24 hours (minus eating and stuff) and I was able to finish the game in about 18 in-game hours. When I finally turned my Dreamcast off, I cried for like 10 minutes, since I knew I'd lost it all.-Gabriel

On the night that Silent Hill: Revelation came out, being a big Silent Hill fan, I went in with a friend dressed as Pyramid Head, expecting a large turn out for the premiere. I walked around the lobby for a while, handing out flyers for a haunted house I work at that supplied the costume, and talked to the staff of the theater for a while, a few of whom took pictures, and scaring random movie goers. Then, when I walked into the screening room, I held my blade high…. for about 10 people to see. Not exactly what I was expecting, but at least I didn't have to worry about blocking anyone's view.-Skyler (see below)

I was working at the 2012 New York Comic Con, passing out business cards, when a female Link strolled past me. Since I was handing out business cards, I yelled "IT'S DANGEROUS TO GO ALONE. TAKE THIS." She didn't understand the reference. I guess it's a secret to everybody…-Josh

I went skydiving last weekend. I wasn't nervous at all – instead, all I could think about was "I'm going to be like Naked Snake dropping into Soviet Russia." I only wish I could have landed towards a tree and do a landing on the knee, instead of in that field and the sloppy landing.-Henry

After about three months of going out with my girlfriend, I told my first lie of the relationship: I told her that the reason I hadn't phoned or texted for the past week was because I had left my phone in my locker and couldn't get to it. The truth was that Pokemon Black 2 had just come out and I didn't want anyone distracting me.-Sean

When I was 10, I played Dragonball Z so much I couldn't sleep without my GameBoy under my pillow playing the title screen music. I went through a lot of batteries.-Aiden

A coworker and I were horsing around at work and attempting a crossword puzzle. The clue for one of the words was "Small Plateau" with 4 letters and the first we had as "M" and with out even thinking I blurted out "Mesa". I had no clue where that answer came from, but it was right. A bit later I realized the logo for Black Mesa is a plateau in a circle.-Jack

My parents were very proud of me today when I told them I picked up a night job in addition to going to college. My reasoning behind it was that way, I would have more money so I could buy both Pokemon Black and White 2. As soon as I saved enough money to get the games, I'm submitting my two weeks notice. They won't be proud of me for long.-Randal

I've learned most of the skateboard tricks I know from carefully observing how characters move their legs in Tony Hawk games.-Law

For English class, we were told to re-write a chapter of a book and turn it in for extra credit. I chose Of Mice and Men, and re-wrote the entire thing using Team Fortress 2 characters. My teacher wouldn't accept it because I forgot to take their respective accents into account. I got zero points extra credit, because my teacher was a bigger nerd than me.-Mason

I recently graduated from law school, passed the bar and got a real job. Needless to say I don't have a lot of time to play video games right now. However, I always reserve a few hours on Sunday night to play Call of Duty with two of my uncles, two little cousins (their sons, respectively) and my dad, who is deploying to Afghanistan very soon. Video games are pretty much the only thing that brings my family together these days.-Jason
