I think most fans would agree that Gotham was a bit of a daring experiment in superhero telvision, a chance to explore a deep well of characters and villains built up over a century of comic books without comitting to outlandish big-budget superhero effects. Yet there was always tension as the series went on, as the proto-versions of these larger-than-life figures evolved into their full selves, there was bound to be some disappointment from fans raised on multi-million dollar movies and videogames.

Thus as the show is filming its fifth and final season, we get a collective groan from fans as leaks revealed a very busy-yet-underwhelming design for the masked rogue Bane. This villain is a terrifying threat who came to prominance in the 1990s as the one who "broke" Batman (heroes were dying left and right at the time, check your older brother's closet for back-issues) and despite his status among fans, seems to be always done dirty in adaptations.
