Five Nights at Freddy's helped launch the careers of some of the biggest names on YouTube and completely redefined what could be accomplished by indie developers with a cheap asking price, mobile ports, and millions of young fans who need to explore their darker side. While Scott Cawthon's unlikely horror empire has been a merchandising powerhouse, the film rights languished at Warner Bros. until they were picked up by similarly low-budget spook success story Blumhouse Productions last year.

Well today the franchise's supporters (and haters) were thrown a curveball when it was revealed that not only is the movie HAPPENING, it's going to be directed by Chris Columbus, the man responsible for writing Pop Culture fixtures like Gremlins and The Goonies as well as helming blockbuster hits like Home Alone, Harry Potter, and uh... Pixels.
