You'd be hard-pressed to find a more wretched hive on the internet than 4chan, but every once in a while a story bubbles up from the depths of the boards that anyone can enjoy. Over the holidays, a user started a thread with the above post, puzzled that their new Dungeons and Dragons gamemaster was using stickers to encourage players. As others chimed in, the oblivious OP peeled back the layers of what seems to be the work of a saintly good samaritan.

The whole thread is archived over here, but just be aware that there's a lot of typical 4chan horseshit to wade through. If you want to avoid the seedy comments by the crude and the boner-prone, we've snipped the best bits and formed a loose timeline below.

At first, commenters were just incredulous at the idea of OP not appreciating stickers.

Then the obvious was finally brought up: This DM is totally a teacher, right? Probably elementary school?

The more OP revealed about the stickers, the more amazing the story became.

Anyone who trash talked the stickers or this nice DM was instantly shouted down.

We might never know what the DM actually does for a living, since she threatened to take away stickers if prodded further with personal questions.

This... is a fair question.

Eventually the OP revealed just how his group got started with this mystery "teacher" in the first place. It sounds like she's much more than just a DM.

These dudes are learning literal life skills by playing Dungeons and Dragons with someone who wants to help them become more well-adjusted people.

Posters in the thread started referring to the DM as "Gamemommy," and not in a bad way.

The OP might be "embarrassed" but I think we can all agree it's for the best.

As the thread went on, the other posters started chastising the OP for not realizing how lucky he is.

The story might well be fake (it IS 4chan), but I choose to believe it's real. I also subscribe to this fan theory.
