In a Nintendo Direct last night, Nintendo announced that their beloved Animal Crossing franchise would finally make its triumphant return....on mobile phones. The title is Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, taking you away from the more traditional setting of an incredibly poorly-maintained town and into the new territory of an incredibly poorly-maintained camp site (which you will completely abandon for several years one month after you start playing and then feel too guilty to ever return to). And while there are MANY, MANY things to be skeptical about (lots of room for microtransactions, play-to-win mechanics, and several hours-long timers for resources to become available), it DOES look like an Animal Crossing game that exists on your phone, which is pretty rad. The look is right, there appear to be lots of silly animal-neighbors to interact with, lots of goofy furniture options to decorate with, and all the usual trappings of Animal Crossing:

So there's a lot going on - and a lot of emotions swirling. A pay-to-win Animal Crossing seems like an extremely meta Tom Nook scheme, but we'll have to wait and see if we wind up having to mortgage our homes to afford it (just kidding, none of us will ever come close to actually owning homes):
