1. He is straight-up TERRIBLE at keeping secrets

Marvel is somewhat notorious for the ironclad non-disclosure agreements they make everyone involved with their films sign - and the general understanding that you do not spoil anything or reveal any tiny tidbit of information unless Kevin Feige has expressly given you permission. But poor goofball Tom Holland has that uniquely Peter Parker-esque skill of screwing up on a basically non-stop basis.

2. He made the classic Ewan McGregor mistake of trying to do the sound effects himself

It's pretty well-known by now that Ewan McGregor was so excited by the prospect of getting to partake in lightsaber battles in the Star Wars prequels, that he couldn't help but add in his own sound effects (like you would if you were a kid pretending to have a whoosh-y lightsaber fight, not an actual on one of the most expensive films of all-time). And that kind of geeky infectiousness is alive and well in our modern Spider-Man, Tom Holland.

I mean, obviously, it's PRETTY messed up he didn't say "thwip" instead of "psst." "Psst" is trying to get someone's attention discreetly to tell them their fly is unzipped, "thwip" is Spider-Man shooting some webbing.

And I won't get into the hyphen in "Spider-Man" because I can't prove Tom Holland was spelling it this way when he spoke, but seeing it is driving me completely insane.

3. He has EXTREMELY good taste in casting

Tom Holland doesn't care at all about the DCU/MCU divide - he wants Aquaman actor Jason Momoa for Kraven the Hunter. Which, to be fair, would be a pretty stellar piece of casting. Although Jeffrey Dean Morgan or Viggo Mortensen would be decent enough options.

4. He would treat spiders with the fear and respect they deserve

Mr. Holland and I have similar opinions on the topic of spiders, and I respect him for that.

5. He helped get Jon Bernthal his role as Punisher

undefined

I don't think it's a controversial opinion to say that Tom Holland as Spider-Man and Jon Bernthal as the Punisher are two of the most perfect casting choices in modern superhero filmmaking. I mean, Robert Downey Jr. is obviously perfect for Tony Stark and Gal Gadot is perfect for Wonder Woman and okay nevermind there are a lot. The point is - these two felt so natural in their characters, it seems nuts they would have had to audition at all.

But they did - and it sounds like a pretty arduous process for both. While Holland and Jon Bernthal were filming the (yet-to-be-released) medieval thriller Pilgrimage, the two helped each other film audition tapes for their respective corners of the Marvel Cinematic Universe - Holland helping Bernthal for his tape for The Punisher, and Bernthal helping Holland for his tape for Spider-Man.

Representing @jonnybernthal! Miss you dawg. #pilgrimage #brothers. @stanley_weber

Bernthal said this about Holland:

"I can't say enough good things about Tom. He's got strength and talent and fortitude that's not only remarkable for someone his age, but for someone period."

10. He was always destined to be Spider-Man

A trip down memory lane... Thanks mum for keeping this.

Yup - Tom Holland had a tiny lil baby Spider-Man shirt when he was a lad! But, heck, a lot of people probably did, right? However - check out this post from February 2014 - not only well before he was cast, but well before the IDEA of him being cast as Spider-Man was more or less impossible (since Andrew Garfield's 2nd go at Spider-Man hadn't even come out yet). THIS WAS ALWAYS DESTINED TO HAPPEN.
