Long known as the world's buffest gamer, everyone's favorite jacked dad Terry Crews has emerged as the biggest celebrity fan of Blizzard's Overwatch - posting it about it semi-regularly on social media and talking about playing the game.

His interest in the game has inspired fans in a lot of ways - from imagining Terry Crews voicing all of the existing Overwatch characters...

...to the idea of having him ACTUALLY voice a real in-game character. Namely, the legendary-but-unseen incarnation of the Overwatch character, Doomfist:

It's that last thread that's the most interesting - as the top comment on the Reddit post is from none other than Terry Crew's (officially verified) Reddit username:

Also interestingly, that comment was Crews' last post on Reddit. Did someone at Blizzard see this and tell him to hush up for a bit while they worked out the details?

For those of you not aware, Doomfist is a moniker held by whomever has the titular 'Doomfist' - a powerful mechanical gauntlet (or gauntlets), that is known to have been wielded by at least 3 individuals, known as "The Savior," "The Scourge," and - finally - "The Successor."

undefined

Also it was wielded briefly by the older brother in one of the first Overwatch shorts, but he doesn't SEEM to have the right build for "The Successor":

It sure seems like "The Successor"s face was kept hidden for a reason, given the previous two Doomfists both have their faces shown. Maybe the reason is that Blizzard was planning on making him a full-fledged character somewhere down the line but hadn't quite nailed the exact design they wanted yet. There were plenty of hints about Ana and Sombra before their official releases as well, after all.

The Doomfist itself already does exist within the current version of Overwatch - it's the actual payload in the Numbani escort mission (and signage about the new Doomfist museum exhibit is found everywhere in the level) - although the fact that each Doomfist is a little different from the previous one means that it doesn't necessarily need to change if 'The Successor' became a playable in-game character.

Anyways - back to the IMPORTANT part: this week, Terry Crews made an official visit to Blizzard HQ....but for what purpose? It could easily have just been a friendly visit, but given Blizzard's close relationship with the fan community around Overwatch, it's not ridiculous to think that they may have agreed that Terry Crews would be the ideal voice actor for Doomfist:

It's that last picture that's probably the most interesting and the one most likely to semi-confirm that Crews' visit to Blizzard was a bit more than just a friendly tour - that's him with lead character designer Renaud Galand. Could they have been meeting to discuss the character of Doomfist, how he would look, what he would sound like, etc.?

Maybe! Also, maybe not. The important thing is that the possibility seems A LOT MORE PLAUSIBLE than it did a few days ago.
