If you've been on the internet long enough, chances are you've been traumatized by Junji Ito's work. If you haven't, Google "The Enigma of Amigara Fault" and suffer with the rest of us. Suffice it to say, Ito is responsible for some of the creepiest manga ever made. So it only makes sense that a community would spring up around his work, and that this fanbase would include talented cosplayers.
That's where we get to Ikura, a cosplayer so invested in Ito's work that she's been adapting his manga panels for grisly costumes. Ito's work was already unsettling, but seeing something so horrible brought into reality with such care and accuracy is truly impressive. Ikura's work has been featured all over the internet, including Kotaku, but the biggest honor has to be the thumbs-up from the manga artist himself. Junji Ito has made it clear that he's a big fan of Ikura's, going so far as to retweet plenty of her cosplay and even participate in an interview between the two of them.
We've selected a few of our favorite of Ikura's cosplay below, but there are tons more where that came from.
