The world of Pokemon is so much more dangerous than its happy, kid-friendly aesthetic would lead you to believe: neglected children, being handed biological weapons in the guise of animals, are the protagonists. They're expected to be able to CONTROL dragons and ghosts and all sorts of weird monsters because they have the right badges? Sorry, but the animal kingdom doesn't work that way - it's REALLY hard to get a salamander with its tail on fire to listen to the orders of a child. Odds are, things are gonna end very, very badly for that child.

In this world filled with monsters, maybe it would be better for the kids to have guns.

...or (more likely) don't give kids either. Just keep everyone locked in the house, trying to hide from the world filled with insane monsters as long as you can.
