Well, this came out of nowhere. The Wall Street Journal reports that Netflix and Nintendo are in the early stages of creating a full-fledged Legend of Zelda TV series. Details are pretty scarce, because apparently the plans have only recently been set in motion. The series might never see the light day of day.

And maybe that's a good thing. According to TWSJ, "As it seeks writers to work on the show, Netflix is describing it as 'Game of Thrones' for a family audience, this person said."

Uh, Game of Thrones for families? How does that even work? If Link gets murdered at a wedding, will he just spring back to life because he had a fairy potion in his pocket? Why not go all-in on this wacky endeavor and create a Metroid TV show that's like Battlestar Galactica for babies?

Reminder: This is the last time Zelda was on TV, in animated form.

Does anyone really want a live-action version of this?
