In 1979, Star Wars fans were - unlike today - starved for content. They didn't have countless books and videogames and films and short stories and an incredibly elaborate largescale online encyclopedia with a nice punny name. Nope, all they had was a single film, an seldom spoken-of holiday special, and some comic books published by Marvel.
But just like today, Star Wars fans were constantly getting angry about continuity - especially when the comics didn't quite align with the movie. Mainly, why weren't Luke and Leia doing the horizontal tango 24/7? Why were they acting like brother and sister?!
