Toplist Results: The 15 Greatest Generation I Pokemon

Internet, you did it - after over 2 million votes (and some passionate commenting), you ranked all 151 of the original generation 1 Pokemon. Some of the results were surprising, some were not - apparently no one likes poor Weedle or Kakuna, Moltres is the least popular legendary, and Magikarp is way more popular than Victreebell. But most importantly, your votes helped us whittle the original Pokedex down to the greatest 15. Here they are...

15. Snorlax

Toplist Results: The 15 Greatest Generation I Pokemon

The Pokemon with the least healthy Body Mass Index is also one of your favorites, just barely edging out Venusaur to make this list. Was it his ability to block the normal flow of traffic? The fact that he would have literally slept forever if you didn't wake him up with a flute? Basically, Snorlax is what we all aspire for: sleep and eat all the time, and getting to take naps in the middle of busy intersections without suffering any consequence (except being captured by an overenthusiastic child).

14. Lapras

Toplist Results: The 15 Greatest Generation I Pokemon

Lapras isn't the best Pokemon, but she's the best one give Surf to (well, there is no "best" Pokemon for that, but Lapras seems like the most appropriate). In something that most people would never guess, Lapras actually has some of the best base stats of any non-legendary Pokemon. But really, it's just nice to be able to ride the Loch Ness Monster equivalent while fighting off Tentacools.

13. Haunter

Toplist Results: The 15 Greatest Generation I Pokemon

Not only is Haunter the highest-placing middle evolution on this list, he's the highest-placing who is really into licking things with his long tongue (sorry, Lickitung, a Pokemon solely defined by how much he likes to lick things with his long tongue). In the original Red/Blue generation, there were only 3 ghost-type Pokemon, and if you tried evolving them, odds are you were stuck at Haunter longer than you expected to be (since it only evolved to Gengar when traded) - which made a lot of people fonder of an arm-less ghost than you'd expect.

12. Zapdos

Toplist Results: The 15 Greatest Generation I Pokemon

One of the three legendary birds (the 2nd one, as subtly indicated by its name ending in "DOS", and thus blowing the minds of young children everywhere at the time), Zapdos was an amazing Pokemon for a lot of reasons: it's a legen - WAIT FOR IT -  ...darily awesome Pokemon and it's one of the strongest in the game. Move over Pikachu, you non-legendary, unevolved rodent - this is a real Electric-type Pokemon.
