There are a lot of ways to travel in the GTA series cars, motorcycles, a jetpack, airplanes, flying tanks, etc. but there was something special about the lo-fi majesty of the bicycle. Amongst all of the fast, high-powered vehicles at your disposal, lots of people still opted for the bicycle whenever possible. Maybe it was because it actually counted as a workout when you rode one, maybe it was because we've all ridden bikes, or maybe it was because you were a badass thug carrying a huge number of weaponry and instead of traveling in a tricked out car, you were on a six-speed bike. But if we're being honest with ourselves here, it's because there are few things more hilarious than trying to make a getaway from the SWAT team by riding off in your bike.
Jetpacks in games are always awesome but the Jetpack in Tribes is special because it was really the first memorable jetpack to be deeply integrated into a videogame. Tribes was practically defined by its use of jetpacks as a core part of the gameplay. And what made it even better was the "skiing" exploit that allowed you to zoom across maps with crazy speed, and is now one of the most beloved features of the series. I don't think it's asking too much to say that every single videogame should have non-stop jetpacks.
Is there anything quite as satisfying as using the ninja rope from Worms to sling yourself across a level, drop a holy hand grenade on an opposing team's worm, and sling yourself away to safety just in the nick of time? Hell, Worms found a way to do web-slinging better than any Spider-Man game has ever been able to (it helped, of course, that it was 2-D). Of course, ninja rope could very easily go awry and you'd end up flying into the sea, but that was part of the fun you had to train yourself get skilled in it to use it effectively. How's it feel to get bested by an invertebrate, Spider-Man?
